About Vklass

Built for Swedish schools.
For more than 20 years.

Vklass is the platform that more than 3,000 connected schools rely on every day. It is developed and hosted in Sweden and built for the Swedish curriculum framework. Since the acquisition we are part of Visma: Vklass leads, Visma reinforces.

An idea that holds up: the whole school day in one place

Vklass started from a simple conviction: the school day should not require five systems. Attendance, planning, assessment, progress reports, communication and documentation belong together and should live in the same place, from preschool to adult education. After more than 20 years with Swedish schools, the platform is used today in more than 3,000 connected schools run by more than 80 municipal and independent school authorities. There it carries the everyday work of over a million students, teachers and guardians.

Part of Visma with our own identity

Since the acquisition, Vklass has been part of Visma, and the principle is that Vklass leads and Visma reinforces. Visma brings staying power and resources for development, security work and hosting that a standalone company rarely has. The product, the team and the closeness to Swedish schools remain the same as before.

Built for the Swedish curriculum framework

Vklass is built in Sweden for the Swedish National Agency for Education's steering documents, for the Gy25 upper secondary reform and for the digital national tests. The platform is also built for SS12000, the Swedish standard for information exchange between school IT systems, and Vklass takes part in the development work on the standard within SIS.

Swedish hosting and support

Data is stored in Sweden with redundant hosting, and support speaks Swedish. Read more about security and GDPR.

Research in triple helix

Vklass is developed in collaboration with research. In a triple helix collaboration between academia, school authorities and Vklass, the Stockholm School of Economics runs a three-year research study on the link between school absence and learning outcomes. The study is funded by the Swedish Research Council and approved by the Swedish Ethical Review Authority. Together with Statistics Sweden (SCB), socioeconomic factors can be included in the analysis without identifying individual students. The results strengthen early warning in Vklass analys, so the right student gets support in time.
